Death Certificate Authorized Copies

  • The City of Laredo Vital Statistics Office records consist of all the deaths filed. The office can only issue certified death certificates for individuals who passed away in the City of Laredo.  You must have a valid ID, payment and be a qualified applicant to obtain the record.

    Qualified Applicant

    The parent, child, sibling, spouse, grandparent, informant or managing conservator.

    Texas law mandates that death certificates are confidential records with restricted access. Death records are restricted until 25 years after the file date.

    Proper Identification

    The qualified applicant must present a Valid Government or State Issued Picture Identification. All identification and supporting documents presented are subject to inspection and approval. The Vital Statistics Registrar retains the right to reject identification deemed unacceptable or insufficient.

     

    Effective 9-1-15, Senate Bill 200 requires a person applying for a certified copy of a birth or death record by mail, email or fax to provide notarized proof of identity before the record can be issued.

    • $21.00 for the First Certified Copy
    • $4.00 for Each Additional Copy
